"'What do we mean by being happy?' Professor Csikszentmihalyi asks.'Is it just pleasure and the absence of pain? These are rewarding conditions, indispensable to maintain psychic processes on an even keel. But happiness also depends on something else: the feeling that one is growing, improving. That process is, by definition, a process of learning, a broadly defined. One might conclude that learning is necessary for happiness, that learning is the pursuit of happiness.'"

Edit with Confidence

Learning to be an Editor brings a writer to the next step. Editors look for gaps in the manuscript, punctuation and grammar errors, plot weaknesses, flat characters or wording, and libel. The self-editor is able to spot these problems and correct them before they send the manuscript out for submission. Knowing the elements of editing will greatly improve your chances of being published. It may also add another dimension to your career opportunities.

Ruthless Editing is an essential part of the creation process; ruthless self-editing is a skill most writers lack. Participants will begin their in-class writing with uncritical brainstorming and then learn to polish their work using professional editing techniques bringing a focus and tightness to their work that readers will love.

No prior editing experience is necessary. This class will require a fee and will be available in the Summer of 2002. To join this group, please write to Edit With Confidence
